A Brief Word On The Sport Of Hunting

Big-game hunting in North America is alive and well. This sport is growing, even in the face of declining habitat, stricter gun laws, more restricted access and a building anti-hunting sentiment. Through conservation and the responsible management of one of our most valuable natural resources, the big-game animal, the sport of hunting and it's related activities will continue to provide enjoyment to legions of hunter's for many decades to come.

In recent years, special interest groups and misguided individuals have made it their business to meddle in and try to severely curtail the activities of the hunting fraternity. Even though hunting is one of the mankind's oldest activities, there are zealots who for whatever reason, are very active in attempting to totally stop hunters from going afield. Unfortunately, the narrow and uninformed focus of these groups and individuals does receive attention. All hunters' must lobby just as hard to assist politicians and the general public in making informed decisions as to any legislation that might affect our right to pursue our sport.

Although some regulation decisions are political in nature, by and large, most Fish & Game departments and their officers operate with your well-being and the well-being of our sport in mind. Without hunter's and the million's of dollars they inject into game management and local economy's, there wouldn't be a great need for the services of these departments and they realize that fact. We hire them to do a job and should overwhelmingly support and respect their efforts.

With all that said, we sincerely hope you enjoy this series and will reference it many times. It was written for you with the intent of providing you with practical hunting information that will make your hunting endeavors enjoyable and successful.
